The modernization of the Governador Magalhães Pinto soccer stadium, mostly known as Mineirão, was completed on December, 2012. The stadium has undergone modernizing reforms, with investments of 667 million Brazilian Reais (about €248 mi), so that it could be prepared to receive the soccer matches of the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.
Power plant to provide back-up, on-demand capacity for the region in case of high demand.
