Tractebel’s key role for energy-efficient and carbon-free cities

10 Jan 2021

Tractebel has joined the French Research and Development institute Efficacity to take part in work devoted to developing resilient and carbon-free cities.

A partnership to develop resilient and carbon-free cities
Efficacity is the French Research and Development institute dedicated to the energy and ecological transition of cities. This research centre is based on partnerships with several public and private actors. ENGIE, committed to a carbon-neutral transition, has been a founding member since its creation in 2014.

Through this partnership, signed with ENGIE for a period of 3 years, Tractebel will make its engineers available to support the projects carried out by Efficacity. This commitment confirms our desire to design innovative solutions for energy-efficient and carbon-free cities.

Continuing our commitment to carbon neutrality

In concrete terms, some of our engineers will join projects and research teams to contribute to the development of tools and methods adapted to tomorrow's challenges, such as evaluating the environmental impacts of urban projects on a neighbourhood scale (UrbanPrint) or the Low Carbon strategies of cities by 2050.

With several existing tools powered by Tractebel such as 360° City Scan, which enables us to analyse the situation of cities and their ability to adapt to future challenges, or TracToZero, an integrated approach to reduce CO2 emissions in terms of mobility, this partnership will enable us to enrich our tools dedicated to the design of concrete and innovative solutions in favour of a resilient and carbon-free city.

"The challenge of this partnership for Tractebel is to take part, alongside a recognised public-private organisation, in the development and use of digital tools that contribute significantly to the implementation of concrete low carbon plans in cities in France and abroad".  Thierry Foussereau, Business Development Director Paris Area and District Heating & Cooling Network
