Find out moreTo celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, Tractebel is pleased to announce our commitment and action plan to narrow the gender gap
Diversity is crucial to the success of any organization, and gender parity – the balanced ratio of women to men - is an essential part of that diversity. To mark International Women’s Day, Tractebel is launching the Journey to Gender Parity: our long-term commitment to closing the gender gap.
Gender parity in engineering: a complex equation
Achieving gender parity in the engineering field presents particular challenges: while the number of bachelor’s degrees in engineering and computer science awarded to women between 2013 and 2018 rose by 43%, according to the Society of Women Engineers, just 13% of engineers are women. That means completely closing the gender gap among our engineers is not feasible – yet. But we can narrow that gap.
Journey to Gender Parity: the EDGE pledge
To kick off our Journey to Gender Parity, we are pleased to announce our commitment to boost the percentage of women at Tractebel from 27% today to 33% by 2025, and to around 40% by 2030. We also aim to be EDGE-certified, a globally recognized label for organizations that reach specific gender equality goals. We will begin with an extensive series of measurements like gender representation, pay equity, and procedures and statistics around hiring and promoting. Next, Tractebel will be benchmarked against industry peers, culminating in the development and implementation of a concrete action plan to boost gender parity and equality.
