We are proud to be involved in the development of Germany’s first LNG import terminal. The country will soon have direct access to the global LNG market.
Our client, German LNG Terminal GmbH aims to establish and operate Germany’s first multi-purpose LNG import and small scale terminal on the country’s northwest coast, in the port of Brunsbüttel near Hamburg. Tractebel will assist German LNG Terminal by developing the basic design of the terminal and preparing the documentation for permits to build the terminal in accordance with local legislation.
The proposed terminal includes the provision of at least one full containment LNG tank - which would be among the largest of its type in the world, berthing infrastructure for LNG unloading and loading, LNG truck loading facilities and a potential LNG rail loading facility. The terminal, expected to be put in operation in 2022, is intended to be connected to the high-pressure gas grid and will have a throughput capacity of around 5BCMA.
“Tractebel’s extensive experience and skills in all disciplines of LNG terminal design combined with the comprehensive knowledge of the local permitting procedures thanks to our local partners were key factors in being awarded this major contract,” said David Layton, Tractebel’s Project Manager.
