The Challenge
The client aimed to develop a large-scale, low-carbon hydrogen production facility integrated with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology across multiple European countries. The project needed to demonstrate technical and economic feasibility while achieving over 95% CO₂ capture—requiring compliance with strict environmental and social standards, addressing stakeholder concerns, and managing complex supply chain risks.
The Solution
Tractebel conducted a high-level environmental, social, and health risk assessment for every step of the hydrogen and CCS supply chain. The assessment included stakeholder perception analysis and was structured in an HAZID format to ensure clarity and systematic risk identification. Our approach combined desk research, risk evaluation, and project management expertise to deliver actionable insights for mitigating ESG risks and aligning with international best practices.
