The Youngduk Wind Farm in Korea went into operation in 2005 with a total installed capacity of 39.6 MW consisting of 24 units of V82-1.65MW. Tractebel Engineering GmbH supported the project from the early development until the current repowering. First as Owner’s Engineer from 2002 to 2004, then as Lender’s Technical Advisor from 2006 to 2010 and with intermediate assignments from the operating company Youngduk Wind Power for technical advisory support during the operating phase.

After 13 years from commercial operation, Tractebel has been assigned by Youngduk Wind Power as Owner’s Technical Adviser to assess the technical aspects of a repowering of the project comprising a new layout for an extended area targeting a new installation capacity of 70 MW, additional wind measurements and tendering for wind turbines.

The scope of works of the Technical Advisor included: i) Feasibility Study; ii) Operation Monitoring; iii) Layout Optimisation; iv) Wind Energy Yield Assessment based on operation data and additional wind measurements; and v) Tender Services.
