After a Periodic Safety Review and the earthquake event at Fukushima Daiichi in Japan, ENGIE Electrabel decided to improve the protection of Tihange nuclear power plant against external flooding. Tractebel was hired to study, develop and implement the construction of the technical solutions related to the successive and independent external flooding protections.
