Markersbach Pumped Storag Plant in Saxony with a capacity of 1050 MW is the second largest pumped storage plant in Germany and its the largest hydropower plant of its kind in Europe. It had been constructed between 1970 and 1981 near Markersbach in the Erz Mountains.
Sylwin Alpha was at the time of installation the largest and heaviest HVDC substation in the world. Innovative and patented engineering ensured a smooth installation.
