Focus on innovative solutions at CIRED 2019

08 Jul 2019

Experts from TRACTEBEL’s Advisory & Advanced Analytics teams were active participants at the 2019 CIRED Conference.

This leading forum of the Electricity Distribution Community took place from 3 to 6 June in Madrid, Spain. This biennial event gathers key experts and decision makers in the field of distributed energy, rural electrification and smart energy systems. Our experts presented innovative tools and methodologies developed in these fields to support ENGIE strategy to become a leader in the zero carbon transition.

In particular, Niels Leemput presented a paper based on an Electric Vehicle project carried out in collaboration with Dutch DSO association (Elaad) using Tractebel’s Smart Operation (a distribution network operational planning tool); Tanguy Port and Mehdi Othmani presented TAOS.ai, a new rural electrification optimisation tool. The tool aims at designing microgrids and low voltage networks using satellite images, machine learning and optimisation techniques. Parvathy Chittur explained how to leverage flexibility and efficiently assess grid impact using innovative tools and methods.

CIRED 2019 was a unique opportunity to showcase the deep expertise of TRACTEBEL’s advisory teams in the field of distributed energy through concrete examples fully in line with ENGIE strategy.
