Dams for irrigation and flood control in Brazil

19 Jul 2018

About 3 million people in Brazil will benefit from the implementation of 40 dams for flood control and irrigation. Tractebel will provide technical support for the activities of supervision and construction management.

About 3 million people in Brazil’s southeast region (Espírito Santo state) will benefit from the implementation of approximately 40 dams throughout the state territory.

As part of a state government initiative, the set of dams will serve as rainwater capture and mitigation of risks of flooding in several cities. In addition, these dams will also function as water reservoirs to ensure public supply in the event of drought, a solution that will also benefit farmers.

Tractebel, which is currently performing the project’s initial surveys and elaborating the implementation plan, will also provide technical support for the activities of supervision and construction management. With a 30 month-planned duration, a team of civil and geotechnical engineers will be responsible for the project activities.
