The Challenge

Tractebel’s mission in this project is to support the decarbonisation of thermal power generation by enabling the integration of post-combustion carbon capture technology at the Flémalle Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plant. This aligns with our broader goal of reducing CO₂ emissions in the energy sector.

The Solution

In close collaboration with Laborelec, Tractebel conducted a detailed feasibility study to assess the technical and economic viability of implementing carbon capture at the site. The study focused on ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and future operational needs.

The Impact

The project resulted in a robust integration strategy for the licensor’s carbon capture design within the power plant. Tractebel also delivered the design of the balance of plant and provided a comprehensive cost estimation, laying the groundwork for informed investment and implementation decisions.
