The Challenge

Tractebel’s mission in the Alexandroupolis FSRU project was to ensure the safe and efficient commissioning of a strategic LNG terminal, enabling Greece to strengthen its energy infrastructure and regional gas supply security.

The Solution

Tractebel led the commissioning of the offshore-onshore pipeline system, which included a 20 km subsea pipeline, risers, PLEM (Pipeline End Manifold), and onshore block valve stations. Our team elaborated detailed commissioning procedures, verified mechanical and pre-commissioning completions, and provided on-site support throughout the commissioning phase. We managed the execution of the gas-in process, oversaw all communications systems, and ensured rigorous document control, delivering a fully operational and integrated LNG terminal.

The Impact

Thanks to our deep gas expertise, rapid responsiveness, and strong managerial coordination across multiple contractors and stakeholders, Tractebel successfully brought this offshore gas infrastructure into operation without any accidents or delays. Our contribution was key to the project’s safe and timely delivery.
