Tractebel´s presence in Chile dates back to the late 1960s when it actively participated in the Rapel Hydropower plant. Since then, the company has participated in important projects, such as Alfalfal in the 1990s, and the Nehuenco and Tocopilla plants, as well as the Norandino pipeline. In 2009, in order to support Phase 1 of the LNG terminal project in Mejillones, Tractebel opened a new branch in Santiago. Subsequent projects include the Laja Hydropower Plant, the 500kV Ancoa-Alto Jahuel Transmission System and more recently, the interconnection SIC-SING project and the Alto Maipo Hydropower Plant.
