Urban quality for rail passengers

The redevelopment of Sabarmati railway station in India will improve urban quality for thousands of passengers daily. Tractebel is excited to embark on this journey.

The redevelopment of a railway station in Sabarmati in India's Gujarat state is underway and promises to improve quality of everyday life for thousands of daily commuters.
     


The Indian Railway Station Development Corporation has appointed Tractebel as the owner’s engineer of this project which includes modernisation of station buildings, platform surfaces and circulating area, as well as redevelopment of the station vicinity within a radius of 5 km.

With a 7-month long assignment, Tractebel’s scope covers master planning, tender design and tendering support to reorganise all entry-exit points for improved access, segregation of arrival and departure for convenient passenger movement, planning and design of all amenities, retrofitting of station precinct and integration with upcoming high speed, metro and bus rapid transit stations.

In addition, the redevelopment of a roughly 2.5 square kilometre area is to be planned and designed for residential and commercial use. All required surveys, investigations and studies will be carried by Tractebel.
