Tractebel Hidro Dizayn becomes wholly owned subsidiary of Tractebel, marking a key milestone
On April 22, 2026, Tractebel completed the acquisition of the 51% stake of Tractebel Hidro Dizayn held by Tractebel Germany Holding and the 49% minority stake from three Turkish shareholders. With these transactions, Tractebel Engineering SA now holds 100% ownership of Tractebel Hidro Dizayn Engineering, marking an important milestone in Tractebel’s journey in Turkey and reaffirming its long-term commitment to the country.
Founded in 1998, Hidro Dizayn was transformed into a joint stock company in 2010, and started to enhance its overseas activities by the partnership established with German company Lahmeyer International GmbH in 2011. As a consequence of the sale of Lahmeyer to Tractebel in 2014, the partnership that began with Lahmeyer continues with Tractebel today.
Tractebel Hidro Dizayn currently consists of over 60 employees providing engineering design and consultancy services to both public and private clients, mainly in the hydropower and water resource management sectors. With the acquisition of the remaining shares by Tractebel, Tractebel Hidro Dizayn is now positioned to further expand its engineering and consultancy services for energy sector clients in Turkey and internationally.
Its services include renewable energy projects in hydroelectric, solar, PV & wind energy, irrigation and flood protection, municipal infrastructure & environment, transportation projects, and thermal power plants. Tractebel Hidro Dizayn has contributed to 8,742 MW total installed capacity of hydroelectric plants to date, representing 28% of hydroelectric power in Turkey.
