Distributed across multiple project areas along the tidal Scheldt river and its tributaries, this plan addresses the dual challenges of flood protection and ecological resilience. De Vlaamse Waterweg nv is responsible for the preparation and realisation of the Sigmaplan, a critical undertaking for safeguarding Flanders against storm surges and ensuring sustainable development.
