Challenge
Integrating variable renewable energy into the Java-Bali power system requires robust engineering, effective coordination between multiple project interfaces and close control throughout design, construction and commissioning. The project called for comprehensive project management and technical oversight to ensure that the solar installations were designed and implemented in line with project requirements, while addressing engineering, HSE, scheduling and grid-integration considerations throughout the development process.
Solution
Tractebel acted as Project Management Consultant, providing multidisciplinary engineering and management services across the project lifecycle. Its scope included project and interface management, review of site study reports and EPC contractor designs, construction supervision and preparation of the project execution plan. Tractebel also provided change control and management, engineering and HSE management, project schedule control, as well as testing and commissioning supervision. This integrated approach provided technical oversight and coordination from design review through to implementation and commissioning.
Impact
Through its specialised solar energy engineering expertise, Tractebel supported the technical deployment and grid integration of variable renewable energy into the Java-Bali power system. By combining project management, design review, construction supervision and commissioning support, Tractebel helped ensure a coordinated approach to project implementation, supporting the integration of solar generation into the electricity system and contributing to the development of a more sustainable energy infrastructure.
