The Challenge
The wind power generated in the region as part of the energy transition and the offshore energy from Schleswig-Holstein must be distributed without overloading the electricity grid.
The Solution
To increase the transmission capacity from Schleswig-Holstein southwards, the existing 220 kV line between Stade and Landesbergen must be replaced with a new 380 kV link. This includes a new 380 kV switchgear in Stade/West, the extension of the 380 kV switchgear in Sottrum, the replacement of the 220 kV switchgear in Wechold with a 380 kV installation, and the reinforcement of the 380 kV switchgear in Landesbergen.
The Impact
The line increases the transmission capacity for wind energy along the north-south axis and will continue to ensure security of supply and grid stability in Lower Saxony in the future. It is also an important component of the energy transition in Germany as a whole.
